The Federal Stimulus Package provides tax credit incentives for specific energy efficient improvements including replacement windows and doors in existing homes. You can save money on your energy saving investment by purchasing replacement windows and doors that qualify for the tax credit. It is important to know that not all ENERGY STAR rated products qualify for this tax credit. Requirements for this tax credit exceed current Energy Star requirements.

Regardless of the region of the country, a product is only eligible if it is equal to or below a U-Factor of 0.30 and SHGC of 0.30. THE AMERICAN RECOVERY & REINVESTMENT ACT:

• Provides a consumer tax credit up to $1,500 for 30% of the cost of the qualified remodeling projects that improve energy efficiency of an existing home - including replacement windows and doors.
• Applies to products "placed in service" from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.
• Only windows with a U-Value and solar heat gain coefficient of 0.30 and lower qualify.
